Fun Facts About the Tequila for Your Cinco de Mayo Scorpion Shot

Image
In honor of Cinco de Mayo coming up this Sunday, last week's blog featured Savage Cocktail Inspiration for Cinco de Mayo and this week we're highlighting an excellent liquor to use for your scorpion shots - tequila! First, a few very interesting facts about this awesome drink followed by the different types you can use to shoot a Savage Scorpion .   Bet You Didn't Know That... Tequila or Mezcal? Tequila is mezcal but mezcal is not tequila. Sounds confusing, but it's really not. Mezcal is a liquor that is made from the maguey plant, which is a form of agave. It can be made using a variety of different agave plants, but tequila can only be made with blue agave.  It's Only Tequila If... Not only must tequila be made with only blue agave, but it must contain at least 51% blue agave to be classified as tequila. If it is made with 100% blue agave, then it is a true tequila. The recipe  he came up wi...

Guess Where Our Savage Scorpions Come From...

Image
Since scorpions can be found on every continent except for Antarctica, you might wonder exactly where our  Savage Scorpions  come from. We get our tasty and unique cocktail ingredients  from China and Thailand.  Scorpions in some countries are enjoyed by both locals and tourists alike. People in China and Thailand commonly eat them as a staple in some diets. Tourists that are brave enough to eat them find out that they aren’t so bad after all.  While we see our Savage Scorpions most often in shots and craft cocktails, they are great as an addition to foods too.   Thailand If you thought taking a scorpion shot was savage, people in Thailand eat their scorpions on a stick, similar to a kabob.  When tourists, or anyone for that matter, eat scorpions from a street vendor, it’s important to make sure whatever vendor you buy from has removed the stinger from the tail. Scorpions are often times deep-fried and they can have a bitter afte...

In that case, omit the peach nectar.) 6 tablespoons thawed frozen lemonade concentrate 2 tablespoons sugar 1 pound ripe peaches, peeled and sliced 1 (6-oz.) package fresh raspberries (or 1 cup frozen raspberries) 2 cups club soda, chilled 1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a pitche...
