Fresh Fruit Cocktail Ideas (with a Side of Savage Scorpions!)
The upcoming month of August is National Peach Month, which got us thinking about how incredible our edible scorpions would taste paired with cocktails containing fresh fruits. Summertime is the perfect time to mix up a deliciously refreshing fruity drink, drop in a Savage Scorpion, and soak up some sun. Here are three cocktail recipes that we think you might enjoy.
Carolina Peach Sangria
from MyRecipes.com
This delicious peach sangria also incorporates fresh raspberries into the recipe. They note that you should be sure to use rosé wine, not white Zinfandel.
Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade
from www.Supercall.com
They say this Southern-inspired punch was made for porch swinging on a hot day, but it's just as enjoyable on the beach or by the pool.
Our Savage Scorpions love bourbon (and bourbon loves our Savage Scorpions,) so they'll be right at home as an addition to this tasty cocktail!
Get creative with your favorite summer fruits by mixing them into your favorite mixed drinks and adding our creative cocktail garnish on top of it all. Those same fresh fruits may also be used to infuse some of your favorite liquor too. Combine some of the flavors you love, then make them a little bit better with the addition of our fun and exciting Savage Scorpions!

- 1 (750 ml) bottle of rosé wine
- 1/2 cup peach nectar
- 3/4 cup vodka (Peach-flavored vodka may be substituted. In that case, omit the peach nectar.)
- 6 tablespoons thawed frozen lemonade concentrate
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 pound ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 (6-oz.) package fresh raspberries (or 1 cup frozen raspberries)
- 2 cups club soda, chilled
1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a pitcher; stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peaches and raspberries. Cover and chill 8 hours.
2. Stir in chilled club soda just before serving.
You can prop a Savage Scorpion on a slice of peach garnishing the glass or drop one into the drink to "swim" with the berries and peaches.

Watermelon Margaritas
To create salted glasses for these watermelon margaritas, place 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice on a small plate, and 1/2 cup coarse salt on another. Dip rims of four glasses in lime juice, then in the salt to coat. Source: Everyday Food, June 2010
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 wide strips orange zest
- 12 ounces watermelon cubes (about 2 cups)
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 3/4 cup white or silver tequila
- lime wedges
In a small saucepan, bring sugar, water, and orange zest to a boil over high. Reduce to a simmer and cook until sugar dissolves, 3 minutes. Let syrup cool in a bowl. In a blender, puree watermelon cubes until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on solids, into a pitcher (you should have about 1 cup juice.) Stir in syrup, lime juice, and tequila. Fill salt-rimmed glasses with ice, then pour margarita mixture over top. Garnish with lime wedges.
If you want to skip the cooking, agave syrup might work nicely in place of the sugar/water/orange zest concoction. If you try that, we'd love to hear how it worked out for you. The only thing missing from the recipe above is, of course, a Savage Scorpion!
