Valentine's Day AND Anti-Valentine's Day Cocktail Ideas

February 14 brings us Valentine's Day every year. If you're in love, then it may be a day you look forward to. On the other hand, if you're single this year, you may have no desire to celebrate the holiday at all.

Savage Scorpions found some savagely delicious cocktail ideas online that can be enjoyed on Valentine's Day by everyone! Half of these are geared toward the people that are looking forward to sharing a few signature cocktails with special someone. The other half of the drink recipes are meant for everyone else that will be drinking with platonic friends this year instead.

Your favorite liquor, a great cocktail recipe, and a few Savage Scorpions are all you need whether you "love" February 14 or will be celebrating Anti-Valentine's Day in its place. Try a few of these tasty mixes.

😍 YAY to Valentine's Day 💘

Pomegranate Mimosas
From Delish.com

The pomegranate has a reputation for being an aphrodisiac. In Greek mythology, it was regaled as a symbol of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love.

Combine that with a popular celebratory drink, champagne, and you've got an excellent cocktail to toast a romantic evening. An added bonus is that the pomegranate juice gives the drink a lovely red color, perfect for Valentine's Day.

Red Lotus

Another lesser-known aphrodisiac that makes a tasty cocktail is Lychee. In many Eastern countries, it is known as the "fruit of love."

If you enjoy the taste of vodka and cranberry, then this is a drink worth giving a try. It's very similar to the cocktail you already love with a romantic kick added. Add a Savage Scorpion to the mix too and see where the night takes you!

Cranberry Crush
from Saveur.com

Make things a bit "spicy" by enjoying a spiced rum cocktail together. Cranberry gives it a lovely Valentine's Day hue and ginger beer adds a wonderful flavor to the combination. If you have pomegranate juice on hand, it makes a nice substitute for the cranberry too.

👎 BOO to Valentine's Day 💔

Cupid's Broken Arrow
from TheDrinkBusiness.com

This martini symbolizes taking Cupid's annoying love arrows and breaking them in two! The drink is red so it will look as if you are participating in the Valentine's Day hype but as you sip, you'll know you're actually telling Cupid to back off. A simple recipe that tastes great and pairs nicely with a Savage Scorpion. (Those are way cooler than Cupid, right?)

Single Ladies Sangria
From Delish.com

This particular drink can be mixed up ahead of time in a big pitcher to be shared with all of your gal pals. (Even though the name does make this one sound like it's especially for the ladies, we know quite a few men that would enjoy these flavors as well!)

The flavors of raspberry, strawberries, and pomegranate combine deliciously with your favorite rosé. Our creative drink ingredient popped into the bottom of each glass before serving fits right in with the floating fruit. It also turns a few drinks with friends into a real party!

Savage Shots

If you're more in the mood for shots than cocktails, FoodAndWine.com has a list of 4 that fit the moods you may be feeling if you're not a fan of Valentine's Day.

They are the "sour" New York Sour Shot, the "bitter" Blackthorn Shot, the "tart" Japanophile, and the "salty" Dirty Blonde Shot. Turn all of those into scorpion shots and make it a savage celebration!

Find the 4 shot recipes here.

There you go. Whether you're celebrating love this year or giving it the middle finger, there are a few delicious drink ideas that you can enjoy either way. As with any holiday, or any night-out any day of the year, simply add a few Savage Scorpions your drink or shot and take the ordinary to the extraordinary!
