Fresh, Fruity, & Savage Inspiration for Summer Cocktails

Schools everywhere are gearing up to start again, but don't be fooled. There's still plenty of summertime left to enjoy, relaxing poolside or in your own backyard with a relaxing cocktail or two. Make those summer drink ideas extra summery and refreshing with the addition of fresh fruits, and make those cocktails extra savage with the addition of Savage Scorpions!

Fresh fruits naturally flavor your favorite spirits in a most colorful way and our edible scorpions naturally make the entire drink a lot more fun. Here are a few tasty recipes for you to try out. Simply add a Savage Scorpion to the ingredients list and you're all set!

Ginger-Peach Beer Cooler
This is full of a few favorite summer flavors - refreshing ginger, juicy peaches, and of course, ice-cold beer! Mix a big batch up in a pitcher to serve a thirsty crowd (or for yourself so you don't have to play bartender between refills.)

You'll need to make a ginger simple syrup (which isn't difficult, just requires some prep time to boil everything together and let it cool.) Beyond that, all it takes is your favorite light beer, a couple of peaches, and some peach nectar.

Watermelon-Tequila Cocktails
One watermelon can make a LOT of cocktails, or a nice snack to go along with your drink. You can even hollow one out and use the rind as a punch bowl with our Savage Scorpions perched around the rim!

This fruity summertime drink recipe uses pureed watermelon chunks and silver tequila for starters. You will also need mint, fresh blueberries, a little lime juice, and sugar syrup. (If you don't want to take the time to boil up a homemade sugar syrup, agave syrup from the store should work nicely too.)

Strawberry-Lemon Mojitos
For all of the rum fans out there, here's a simple fruity recipe that can be catered to different tastes by changing the type of rum used. If you're in the mood for a smooth drink, a molasses-based rum should be used but for a drier cocktail, opt for a sugarcane-based rum instead.

Strawberries give this drink a wonderful sweetness, but agave syrup can be added if you need it to be a little sweeter. Muddle some strawberries, mint leaves, and lemons together, put it all together with some crushed ice, and you're on your way to delicious summertime refreshment!

Rosé Sangria
Warm weather and sangria go together beautifully. Our unique scorpion cocktail garnish looks right at home floating in the glass with all of that fruit too! This particular recipe is easy to double if you're having a party.

Ingredients include fresh peaches, strawberries, and an orange plus Spanish rosé wine, orange liqueur (like triple sec or Grand Marnier,) sparkling water, golden caster sugar, and a handful of mint sprigs. This will need to chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving, but if you have the time, make it the night before so even more fruity flavors can be infused.

It's only the beginning of August, so as we mentioned earlier, there's still plenty of summer left to enjoy. Finish out the season on a savage note by inviting a few friends over, doing some scorpion shots, and making some memories to hold you over through the cooler months coming up. (Don't worry. We'll be sure to have some Savage Scorpions inspiration for you during those months too!)
