5 Perfectly Savage Halloween Cocktail Ideas
Halloween is nearly upon us. You've probably been searching for some eerily delicious drinks to serve at your Halloween party, or possibly something uniquely perfect to order when you head to the All Hallows' Eve bash at your favorite bar. Savage Scorpions scoured the internet for a few ideas, and we think these will work boo-tifully for any Halloween celebration.
They say this first cocktail was invented over 100 years ago by members of Bermuda's Royal Naval Officer's Club. The name was given to describe the ominous hue of the drink as "the color of a cloud only a fool or dead man would sail under." Definitely not something to sail through, but for sure something to enjoy on a dark Halloween night. Of course, our Savage Scorpions would have no problem "diving" right in!

When you add a Savage Scorpion, it's like that scorpion will be floating in the belly of the monster until it can make its way to yours!
Savage Scorpion Jello Shots
These are always a crowd pleaser at a party! You can find lots of sites online that tell you exactly how to mix your jello shots. They are all generally the same, but the difference comes from the flavor of jello that you choose and the type of alcohol you use with it. Our improvement on the recipe is to add one of our creative cocktail garnishes to each shot before it sets!
There are a few drink ideas to get you in the Halloween spirit. The best way to make any drink or shot spooky (and savage) is always to add a Savage Scorpion to the recipe!
Don't forget, they also glow naturally under an ultraviolet light, making them especially awesome for Halloween. Savage Scorpions are sure to bring excitement along with them to any party.

- 1/2-ounce fresh lime juice (optional)
- ice
- 1 candied ginger slice
- 3 ounces chilled ginger beer
- 1 lime wheel

Caramel Apple Cocktail

- 2-ounces apple juice
- 2-ounces caramel vodka
- 1-ounce butterscotch liqueur
- ice
- caramel sauce
- turbinado sugar (note, this is a partially refined light brown sugar)
- apple slices for garnish
1) Place caramel sauce in a flat-bottomed, shallow bowl. Dip the rim of a cocktail glass in caramel sauce and then in turbinado sugar. Set aside.
2) Place apple juice, caramel vodka, and butterscotch liqueur in a cocktail shaker filled 2/3 with ice. Shake until jet cold (about 20 seconds.) Strain the cocktail into the cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh apple slice on the side of the glass.
Note: For a warm cocktail: Heat the apple juice to a simmer. Place the caramel vodka and butterscotch liqueur in the prepared glass. Pour the hot apple juice in the glass and garnish with a fresh apple slice to serve.

Purple People Eater

- 1-1/2 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Blue Curacao
- 1 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix
- 1 oz. Grenadine
- 1 oz. Cranberry Juice
- Rim: Purple sugar
- Garnish: Lemon Wheel
1) Rim the edge of the glass with purple sugar. Set aside.
2) In an ice-filled glass pour vodka, blue curacao, sweet and sour mix, grenadine, and cranberry juice. Shake to combine.
3) Fill serving glass with ice and pour over mix.
4) Garnish with a lemon wheel.

An obvious choice for a Halloween cocktail if you happen to be dressed as a vampire or a zombie is, of course, a Bloody Mary! (Or a Bloody Maria if you prefer tequila to vodka.) There are lots of recipes out there for this classic drink, most of which are generally the same. You can even go the super easy route and simply add your favorite vodka to a really good pre-made Bloody Mary Mix. We did find one recipe to share in case you want to do a little more than that.
Bloody Mary

1) Pour some celery salt onto a small plate. Rub the juicy side of the lemon or lime wedge along the lip of a pint glass. Roll the outer edge of the glass in celery salt until fully coated. Fill with ice and set aside.
2) Squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into a shaker and drop them in. Add the remaining ingredients and ice and shake gently. Strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with a parsley sprig and 2 speared green olives and a lime wedge.
Bloody Mary

- 1 Lemon wedge
- 1 Lime wedge
- 2 oz. Vodka
- 4 oz. Tomato juice
- 2 dashes Tabasco sauce
- 2 tsp Prepared horseradish
- 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch Celery salt
- 1 pinch Ground black pepper
- 1 pinch Smoked Paprika
- Garnish: celery stalk, lime wedge, green olives, parsley sprig

- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 small box of jello (3 oz.)
- 1/2 cup alcohol of choice (vodka, tequila, rum, etc...)
- 1/2 cup cold water
- Enough Savage Scorpions for each shot (approx. 15)
1) Empty jello into a bowl and add boiling water. Whisk together until jello is fully dissolved, about 2 minutes.
2) Add the alcohol and cold water. Stir to mix.
3) Pour into individual containers. Add 1 Savage Scorpion to each container. Cover and refrigerate until set. (About 3-4 hours, or overnight.)
