Whiskey

There’s no doubt that a Savage Scorpion pairs well with whiskey drinks.
Whiskey, which is also known as whisky, is a type of spirit. Whether you like whiskey or not, you may be wondering what the difference is between whiskey and whisky. One thing that separates the two is where it is produced. Whiskey that is produced in the United States or Ireland are usually spelled whiskey. Whisky from Scotland, Canada, and Japan or somewhere else are spelled without the “e”. It’s based on regional grammar. The difference between types of whiskeys like bourbon, scotch or rye, is a little more complex than where it comes from. The type of whiskey/whisky is determined by the grain that is used during the distillation process. Different grains produce different taste characteristics. Different grains and different distillations methods (depending on region and distiller) will give you a variety of flavors; everything from smooth to bold and even sweet to spicy.

Bourbon – this a type of American whiskey that is made from a mixture of at least 51 percent corn and aged in new charred-oak barrels. American whiskeys are usually made up of corn, rye, barley, or wheat and aged in oak barrels.
Scotch whisky – this type is distilled in Scotland and aged in oak barrels for at least three years. The barley is often dried using smoke from burning peat – this is what gives it the signature smoky flavor.
Irish whisky – this is the oldest whiskey in the world and is known as being extremely smooth. Today it is distilled and aged in Ireland in wooden barrels for at least three years before it is bottled.
Rye whiskey – this a type of American whiskey that follows all the same laws as bourbon, except for one difference: Rye whiskey must be distilled with a mash of at least 51 percent rye. In comparison to bourbon whiskey, it’s usually drier.
Canadian whisky – this is a broad category of whiskies that are fermented, distilled, and aged in Canada. Canadians usually ferment, distill, and age each grain separately, then blend to create a final product that is exceptionally smooth.

Vodka

When it comes to vodka, it’s the chameleon of all spirits. There are technically no universal rules for producing vodka, but the final product is supposed to be odorless, tasteless, and colorless. Vodka is traditionally made from potatoes, corn or grains, but it is now made from a range of products including maple syrup, grapes, and even soybeans. Vodkas are also usually produced in a high-volume, continuous column still. After the distillation, the spirit is filtered to remove any impurities. Traditionally, coal was used was used as the filter, but brands now use a range of materials that even include diamonds. Since vodka isn’t aged, it can be bottled and sold as soon as it’s been distilled.

The history of vodka is a little unclear, no one is sure where it was first made. One thing is clear, people began drinking vodka in America as early as the beginning of the 20th century.
How to drink vodka: you can drink vodka straight when it’s chilled, but it also works great in a variety of different cocktails.
